I'm looking for any evidence to refute the argument that it is safer to ride facing traffic.

In the absence of evidence I'm reduced to the argument that bicycles are considered vehicles and are therefore subject to vehicular laws. To change this status would also deprive us of the right to use the roadways freely.

Any help would be appreciated.
